Blanche DuBois
Blanche is an elegant woman in her 30s who struggles to find love. She has had awful experiences in the past with relationships, being married at 16 to a boy who was secretly gay and having an affair with an older man. This was traumatising for her and was made even worse when he shot himself after she found out about his antics. Blanche has an evident fear of losing her beauty and ageing, which stems from her fear of death as a whole.

She goes as far as to cover the lights in her house with paper lanterns to make it dimmer, and refuses to tell anybody how old she actually is because she does not want anybody to know that she doesn’t look as young as she wants to look. She oftentimes gets lost in the nostalgia and bliss of the world that once was, and she reminisces on her time as a teenager before her husband at the time had committed suicide. Thus why she is seen kissing men who are quite a lot younger than she is, believing that by recreating the false world in which her mind tarries, she can avoid ageing and death altogether.
